Hendrick Durham Auto Mall Contributes To Record Chevrolet Sales Number

According to an article in the Detroit News, the Chevrolet brand of automobile hit an all-time sales record in the third quarter of 2011.

The iconic American brand from General Motors - which features a Suburban SUV that pre-dates the popular Krispy Kreme doughnut - sold 1.2 million vehicles globally, the company announced this week.

Many Chevrolets have been sold at the Hendrick Durham Auto Mall, which has delivered a healthy number of Corvettes, Cruzes and Silverado trucks among other Chevys in its inventory.

The Durham dealership also has the new 2012 Volt, Chevy's all-electric car, as well as the 45th anniversary Camaro and all-new 2012 Sonic.

Chevrolet celebrates its 100th anniversary Nov. 3, The brand reportedly has sold 3.6 million cars and trucks worldwide for the first nine months of 2011 - keeping it on track for its best sales year in history.

The company announced that third-quarter sales were up 13.8 percent over the same period a year ago, more than triple the industry average.

Hot-sellers like the Cruze helped drive the sales gain. The Detroit News reported that General Motors has sold close to 1 million Cruzes since the 4-cylinder fuel-efficient sedan made its world debut in 2009.

The Cruze has been perhaps the top-selling vehicle at the Hendrick Durham Auto Mall, along with the Chevy Suburban -- America's top-selling SUV that has been in existence more than 100 years.

GM reported that it sold 175,000 Cruzes worldwide in the third quarter.

The sales growth bolsters GM's effort to position Chevy as a truly global brand. The Detroit automaker has said it wants to have two major brands worldwide: Chevy and luxury brand Cadillac.

The Hendrick Durham Auto Mall is helping that cause with a sales effort that soon could include the the next-generation Malibu and an all-new Colorado compact pickup

So, when you think Chevrolet, think Hendrick. Think Durham.
