Hendrick Durham Auto Mall is partnering with Durham Firebirds to provide the youth football league's players and coaches with equipment, a monetary donation and a chance to raise up to $10,000.
In support of Durham's star football players of the future, Hendrick Durham Auto Mall has provided the Firebirds with football kits that include equipment bags, 5-gallon water coolers, first-down marker chain set, helmet-sticker decals and T-shirts.
Offering additional support to the community, Durham Firebirds will have the opportunity to raise as much as $10,000 through a fundraising campaign in which someone will win a new 2012 Buick or GMC vehicle (MSRP not to exceed $29,000).
Hendrick Durham Auto Mall and other Raleigh-area GMC dealerships in the Southeast Region are donating the vehicle to the participating leagues. One second prize winner will be selected from the LMA-area to win a Tailgating Package (grill and $100 gift card). One-hundred percent of the proceeds go directly to the participating leagues, and they can use the funds in any way they choose.
Some of the leagues have reported they plan to grant scholarships to families who cannot afford to enroll their children in the league, while others have said they will use the funds to improve fields and equipment.
"GMC and youth football are a great combination," said Paul Ensslin of Hendrick Durham Auto Mall. "We are proud to be able to help the kids in our community by donating equipment and giving them the opportunity to raise much-needed funds for their league.
"We are excited to be part of the effort this year, and we anticipate a fun-filled season of Durham Firebirds football."
